Back Alley Film Productions Ltd, founded by Janis Lundman and Adrienne Mitchell, has been producing entertaining and provocative film and television for over 25 years. With strong backgrounds in producing, (Lundman/Mitchell), and showrunning/directing (Mitchell), they have created and produced award-winning dramatic television series for Canadian and American networks which have sold worldwide. Back Alley’s most recent series is the thrilling mystery drama Bellevue starring Oscar® winner Anna Paquin which premiered on CBC in February 2017. Their past work includes the WWII drama series Bomb Girls, which won Outstanding Drama at the 2013 Gracie Awards, was nominated for the prestigious Rockie Award at the Banff Television Festival and was selected as one of ten series for ITV3’s Decade of Great Drama. The series was honoured with 12 Canadian Screen Award nominations and won 6 including Best Performance by an Actress for star, Oscar® nominated actress Meg Tilly. The series wrapped up with a two-hour MOW in 2014, which won 3 Canadian Screen Awards including Best Dramatic Mini-series or TV Movie.

Back Alley’s other series include: the critically acclaimed crime series Durham County, which was billed by the New York Times as “entirely addictive,” and has sold to over 110 countries internationally. Durham County was named “Top Canadian Series of All Time,” in a competition voted on by viewers. Back Alley also produced Played, a drama set in the world of undercover police that aired Fall 2013 on CTV and Channel 5 in the UK. They also created and produced the series Bliss, Straight Up and the first interactive dramatic series in Canada, Drop The Beat, set in the world of hip hop. In 2001 Mitchell and Lundman won the Production Award for Excellence from Women in Film & Television – Toronto. Back Alley is currently in development on a number of projects including a series on Charles Dickens and a drama with CTV and TF1 based on a UK book series “The Coroner.” Back Alley has offices in Toronto and Montreal.
